March + April Minutes


Triad Modern Quilt Guild

Lee Monroe opened the meeting. Ellen is in DC.

Program Report:

  1. May – Valerie Goodwin (via zoom) speaking on Map Quilts (zoom attendance recommended). Also recommended to watch Lee’s interview with Valerie on The Quilting Hour.
  2. June – Cheri Love will give a program on Design Walls, with a “making” aspect.
  3. July – Sewcial with popcorn and work on community quilts for senior services. Details forthcoming.
  4. August – Annie Smith (a quilter and garment sewer). Topic: garment sewing. She will also teach a two day workshop at Sewingly Yours.

Treasurer Report:

Ann reported that we thankfully have lots of money due to the successful raffle sales last year, and we are able to have good speakers and continue to encourage and educate about quilting. Please let Lee know if you have speaker ideas.

MIscellaneous Class information:

Indigo Class, Village Fabric Shop, May 13, 4-7. Register here.

More classes will be offered by Lee at Forsyth Tech.

  • Mixed Media Class (taught by Lee at FTCC), Mondays (July 10-Aug 14)  12:30-4
  • Mixed Media Class (ditto), Wednesdays (Aug 30-Oct 18), 9:30-1

Swap Report:

The next swap will be “Rotary Cutter Holders” swapping in July. Look for an email from Kara for more information.

Community Report:

Bev reported that the Senior Services collection item for June is Non-Perishable food items.

In July – it’s CHRISTMAS IN JULY!

This is the biggest collection drive for Senior Services for the year. Anything can be donated. Suggestions: Diapers, protein bars, cases of things (water, tuna, etc) that can be divided. 

Muriel Riggs gave a fantastic and inspiring presentation of her work. Thank you Muriel!!
